Liberibacter spp. dentro do grupo citros e gêneros afins.

Abstract

Huanglongbing (HLB, greening) is one of the most devastating diseases of citrus and it has as causal agents three species of the bacteria Candidatus Liberibacter spp., which are capable of infecting a large number of species and varieties of citrus. However, various accesses of the germplasm of citrus in Brazil have not yet been evaluated for susceptibility or resistance to the HLB bacterium. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the multiplication of bacteria and the development of symptoms in six species and varieties of citrus and eight related genera. Trials were conducted in a greenhouse at Centro APTA Citros Sylvio Moreira/IAC. After infection with infected buds, the bacteria could be detected in all genotypes, although with variation in the amount of bacteria over time. The genotypes Atalantia, Poncirus trifoliata and Citrus limettioides (sweet lime) showed a reduction in the bacteria multiplication rate, indicating some degree of tolerance. In fact, there is no relationship among the title of the bacteria in the tissues, presence and intensity of symptoms. On the other hand, they vary among the different genotypes. The results indicate that there is no genetic resistance to Ca. Liberibacter spp. infection within the citrus group and related genera.
