Comentários são feitos sobre os riscos de trazer patógenos ao introduzir citros partes vegetativas, feitas por citricultors e especialistas em agricultura, sem levar em conta a quarentena medidas. A bactéria responsável pelo esverdeamento, especialmente o tipo que induz a doença em áreas de temperaturas mais elevadas e se espalha pela Diaphorina citri, é uma potencial ameaça para o brasileiro citricultura. Se introduzido no país em material propagativo já seria vetor amplamente difundido nas áreas de cultivo de citros. Espécimes vivos de D. citri do Brasil foram enviados à França para serem testados na transmissão do greening. A conclusão dos testes não foi possível porque a colônia de insetos se extinguiu e morreu. Um apelo é feito aos produtores e citricultores que viajam ao exterior para evitar trazer de volta material vegetativo cítrico. Se a introdução for desejável, ela deve ser realizada por meio de procedimentos de quarentena e, de preferência, teste em uma cultura de sementes ou tecidos.

Comments are made on the risks of bringing in pathogens when introducing citrus vegetative parts, as done by growes and agricultural experts, without regard to quarantine measures. The bacteria responsible for greening, especially the type that induces the disease in areas of higher temperatures and is spread by Diaphorina citri, is a potential threat for the Brazilian citrus industry. If introduced in the country in propagative material it would it’s vector already widespread in the citrus growing areas. Live specimens of D. citri from Brazil were sent to France to be tested in the transmission of greening. Completion of the tests was not possible as the insect colony petered out and died. An appeal is made to growers and citrus experts that travel abroad to avoid bringing back citrus vegetative material. If introduction is desirable it should be carried out through regular quarantine procedures and preferably browght in a seeds or tissue culture.
